The pressure sensor monitors water levels in the ice maker and dispenser system, and the code appears when the control board cannot receive a valid signal from that sensor. The problem may be as simple as a loose connector or as involved as a failed sensor or control board.

A power reset by unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes may temporarily clear the PE code, but it will return if the underlying fault is not corrected. Resetting is useful as a first step to confirm the error is active and not a stored ghost code, but it does not address connector problems, sensor failures, or wiring faults.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. Reseating a connector costs nothing beyond your time. Replacing the water level pressure sensor typically runs in the range of $30 to $80 for the part, plus labor if a technician is involved.
