The 1C code on an LG washer signals a water level sensor error. The control board is not receiving a valid signal from the pressure-based water level sensor, which prevents the machine from accurately tracking water volume in the drum. Common causes include a kinked or disconnected air hose, a loose sensor terminal, or in less common cases, a faulty sensor or main control board.

It is not recommended to run the washer while the 1C code is active. The water level sensor controls how much water enters the tub during a cycle, and if it is not functioning correctly, the machine could overfill or run with incorrect water levels, potentially causing damage or a water leak. Resolve the fault before resuming normal use.

A reset may temporarily clear the 1C code from the display, but it will return if the underlying cause has not been addressed. To reset, unplug the washer for a few minutes and then restore power. Use the reset only as a way to confirm whether the fault is persistent after you have completed a physical inspection and corrected any obvious issues with the hose or terminal connections.

Many 1C errors can be resolved without professional help by inspecting the air hose connected to the water level sensor for kinks, clogs, or loose connections, and by checking that the sensor's electrical terminal is firmly seated. These steps require no special tools and only basic mechanical comfort. If the hose and wiring connections are all intact and the code persists, the repair becomes more involved and may require replacing the sensor or main board.
