The 3E code on an LG washer signals a motor driving error. It means the control board (PBA) is unable to properly power or communicate with the drive motor. Causes include loose connector terminals, a faulty hall sensor, damaged motor windings, foreign material in the motor, or unstable relay operation on the control board.

A reset may temporarily clear the 3E code, but if the underlying fault is still present, the error will return once the washer attempts to run the motor again. Resetting is useful for ruling out a one-time glitch, but a persistent 3E code requires physical diagnosis of the motor, connectors, and hall sensor before the problem is resolved.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If the fix is simply reseating a connector or removing debris, the cost may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150.
