LG Washer Error Code AC2

AC2 on an LG washer means the machine has detected a communication failure between the DR Module and the main PBA (Printed Board Assembly). These two boards must exchange signals continuously during operation, and when that communication is lost or not sensed, the washer triggers AC2. The fault can stem from loose connectors, a damaged wiring harness, or a failed board.

A reset by unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the AC2 code, but it will return if the underlying communication fault is not resolved. If a connector was simply jarred loose, reseating it before the reset may allow the washer to operate normally. Persistent AC2 errors after a reset indicate a wiring or component issue that requires hands-on diagnosis.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, there may be no parts cost, though a service call could run anywhere from $75 to $150 depending on your area. Replacing a damaged wiring harness or DR Module typically adds parts costs ranging from $50 to $200 or more. Main PBA replacement is generally the most expensive repair, with parts and labor potentially reaching $200 to $400 or higher.

Start by unplugging the washer and inspecting the connector between the DR Module and the main PBA for loose or improperly seated connections. Firmly reseat any connectors and check the harness for visible damage. If the error returns after restoring power, further diagnosis of the DR Module and main PBA may be needed.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while AC2 is active. The communication failure between the DR Module and main PBA means motor drive control may be compromised, which could result in unpredictable operation. It is best to address the fault before resuming use.
