LG Washer Error Code AE6

AE6 indicates a communication error between the Inverter PBA and the main PBA inside your LG washer. These two control boards must exchange signals continuously for the motor to operate correctly. The fault is triggered when the main PBA cannot detect signals from the Inverter PBA, which is most often caused by a loose, disconnected, or improperly seated connector between the two boards.

You should not continue running the washer while AE6 is active. The error indicates the motor control system is not communicating correctly, which means the washer cannot manage motor speed and load safely. Running it in this condition could cause additional damage to the control boards or motor components.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, the repair cost is minimal and may only involve a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. If the wiring harness needs replacement, parts and labor could run $100 to $250. Replacing a faulty Inverter PBA or main PBA is the most expensive scenario, with total repair costs potentially ranging from $200 to $450 depending on the board and labor rates in your area.

Start by unplugging the washer and locating the wiring harness connector that runs between the Inverter PBA and the main PBA. Disconnect and firmly reseat the connector at both ends, checking for bent pins, corrosion, or damage. If the connection looks secure, inspect the solder joints on both boards for cracking or cold joints. If no physical issue is found, the wiring harness or one of the boards may need to be replaced.

A reset by unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the code, but if the underlying connection fault still exists the error will return. A reset does not fix loose connectors, damaged wiring, or faulty solder joints. The physical cause must be identified and corrected to permanently resolve AE6.
