LG Washer Error Code BP

The BP code on an LG washer stands for Ball Pressure Sensor fault. It means the water level sensor is either disconnected from the control board or is defective and sending readings outside the acceptable range. When this code appears, all water level LEDs blink at the same time. The washer will not operate normally until the sensor or its wiring connection is repaired.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer with the BP code active. Without a functioning water level sensor, the machine cannot accurately control how much water enters the drum, which creates a risk of overfilling or underfilling during a cycle. You should resolve the fault before running additional loads.

A basic reset by unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the code, but it will return as soon as the machine attempts to read the water level again if the underlying fault is not fixed. The BP code requires a physical repair to the Ball Pressure Sensor connection or the sensor itself before it will clear permanently.

The first step is checking the BLUE 3-pin connector that links the Ball Pressure Sensor to the control board, which is something a handy DIYer can attempt after unplugging the washer. If the connector is secure and shows no damage or corrosion, diagnosing and confirming a defective sensor using QC Test Mode typically requires a technician with the proper tools and familiarity with LG diagnostic procedures. Replacing the sensor once identified is a moderate-difficulty repair.

If only the connector needs reseating or cleaning, there may be no parts cost, though a service call fee typically runs between $75 and $150. If the Ball Pressure Sensor needs replacement, parts generally range from $20 to $60 depending on the model, with total repair costs including labor falling between $100 and $250.
