C5 on an LG washer signals a water supply or temperature problem. It activates when the cold and warm water supply hoses are connected incorrectly, when water temperature exceeds 60 degrees Celsius during a dry cycle via the dry valve, or when water temperature exceeds 60 degrees Celsius during the Wool or Lingerie wash courses. The machine stops operation to protect fabrics and internal components.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while C5 is active. Water temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius during delicate cycles can damage sensitive fabrics like wool or lingerie. Additionally, allowing the underlying cause to persist, such as a leaking inlet valve, can lead to further component wear. Address the error before resuming normal use.

If the fix is simply correcting a swapped hose connection, there is no parts cost involved. If a water inlet valve needs replacement, parts and labor typically range from $80 to $200 depending on the specific model and local labor rates. A faulty temperature sensor is generally a lower-cost repair, with parts and labor often falling in the $75 to $150 range.
