The drain error on an LG washer means the machine attempted to drain water from the drum but the water level did not drop to the required reset point within 15 minutes. The control board monitors the pressure sensor during the drain cycle and halts operation when this time limit is exceeded. When the error appears, all buttons except the POWER button are disabled. The most common causes are a clogged drain filter, a restricted drain hose, or a failing drain pump.

Pressing the POWER button will clear the active error display and allow the washer to restart, but the error will return if the underlying cause has not been resolved. A reset is a useful first step to determine if the problem was a temporary restriction or a one-time event. If the drain error comes back on the next cycle, a physical or electrical fault in the drain system needs to be diagnosed and corrected.

The cost depends entirely on the root cause. Cleaning the drain pump filter costs nothing beyond your time.
