LG Washer Error Code Drainage Error

The Drainage Error on an LG washer means the appliance was unable to fully drain the water from the drum within a 10-minute period. The Rinse and Spin LEDs will blink to indicate this condition. The washer stops the cycle automatically to avoid operating with standing water inside the tub. Common causes include a clogged drain hose, a blocked pump filter, or a faulty drain motor.

It is not recommended to continue running wash cycles when this error is active. The washer halts the cycle specifically to prevent water from overflowing or remaining in the drum, which could lead to mold growth, water damage, or strain on other components. Address the underlying cause before resuming normal use.

If the fix is a simple drain hose clearing or pump filter cleaning, there may be no parts cost at all, just your time. Replacing a drain pump motor typically runs in the range of $25 to $75 for the part, with additional labor costs if a technician performs the repair. A PWB assembly replacement is more expensive, generally ranging from $100 to $300 or more depending on the model.

Start by checking the drain hose for kinks, clogs, or freezing, and confirm it is not inserted too deeply into the standpipe. Next, clean the pump filter located behind the lower access panel on the front of the machine. If those steps do not resolve the issue, inspect the 2-pin connector between the drain motor and the PWB for looseness or corrosion, and test the drain motor itself for continuity.

A reset by unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the error and allow a cycle to start, but the error will return if the root cause has not been fixed. If the drain hose is clogged or the pump motor is faulty, the washer will time out again within 10 minutes and re-trigger the error. Always diagnose and correct the underlying problem rather than relying on resets.
