LG Washer Error Code E-45

The E-45 code on an LG washer indicates an Easy/PH sensor cooling error. It means the sensor voltage has remained above 3 volts for more than 3 consecutive minutes, which the control board treats as a fault condition. The washer stops operation until the issue is resolved. Moisture at the sensor is the most frequent cause.

It is not recommended to run laundry cycles while the E-45 error is active, as the washer has detected an abnormal sensor condition and will likely halt mid-cycle anyway. Allow the sensor to dry and inspect the terminal connections before attempting to restart. Continuing to force cycles without resolving the fault could stress other components.

If only moisture is involved, there is no parts cost, just the time to dry and inspect the sensor. Sensor replacement parts typically range from roughly $20 to $60 depending on the specific model. If professional labor is needed, total repair costs including parts and service could range from $100 to $250 or more. A control board replacement, if required, would be at the higher end of repair costs.

Start by opening the washer door for at least 5 minutes to allow any moisture to evaporate from the sensor area. Then inspect the sensor terminal and housing for corrosion, damage, or a loose connection, and reseat the connector if needed. If the code returns after those steps, the sensor or its wiring harness may need to be replaced. In rare cases, the control board could be the source of the fault.

A reset may temporarily clear the display, but the E-45 code will return if the underlying issue is not addressed.
