E-61 on an LG washer indicates a humidity sensor open error. The control board is detecting an open circuit in the humidity sensor circuit, meaning it is receiving no signal from the sensor. This causes the washer to halt its cycle because it cannot monitor moisture levels as required. The fault points to a disconnected connector, damaged wiring, or a failed sensor.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while E-61 is active. The machine has stopped because it cannot properly read humidity levels, which means it may not complete cycles correctly or could mismanage water and heat if overridden. Resolving the fault before resuming normal use is the safest approach.

A reset may temporarily clear the E-61 code from the display, but if the underlying cause such as a disconnected sensor or a failed sensor element has not been addressed, the error will return once the machine attempts to read the humidity sensor again.
