LG Washer Error Code Ed5

Ed5 means the washer has detected a missing or poor electrical connection at the automatic detergent injection pump connector, specifically at the NA8-2 port on the Main PCB. The control board cannot communicate with the detergent pump, so it halts normal operation and displays this fault code. The problem is most often a loose connector rather than a failed component.

Running the washer while Ed5 is active is not recommended because the automatic detergent injection system is not functioning correctly, meaning detergent may not be dispensed properly during the cycle. Additionally, an unresolved wiring fault could potentially worsen over time. It is best to diagnose and correct the connector issue before resuming normal use.

If the fix is simply reseating the loose connector, the repair costs nothing beyond your time. A replacement wiring harness typically runs between $20 and $60 in parts. A new automatic detergent injection pump generally costs between $40 and $100, and a replacement Main PCB can range from $150 to $350 or more depending on the model, plus any applicable labor charges.

Start by unplugging the washer, then locating and firmly reseating the connector at the NA8-2 port on the Main PCB. If the error returns, inspect the connector terminals for corrosion and test the wiring harness for continuity. If the harness is intact, test the detergent pump motor itself before considering a board replacement.

A reset may temporarily clear the code from the display, but it will return as soon as the washer attempts to use the detergent injection pump and finds the same connection fault. A reset is not a repair. The underlying connector or wiring issue at NA8-2 must be physically corrected to permanently resolve the error.
