LG Washer Error Code LC1

LC1 is a water leakage detection code specific to front-area leakage on LG washers. The machine's base pan sensor has detected accumulated water, causing the control board to stop the cycle and display the code. The four most likely sources are excess detergent foam, a loose detergent drawer hose, an improperly seated drain pump filter cover, and a leaking drain hose.

You should not continue running the washer while LC1 is active. The code indicates that water is escaping somewhere it should not be, and operating the machine in this condition can spread water damage to flooring, cabinetry, or the washer's electrical components. Address the source of the leak before resuming use.

If the cause is excess detergent or a loose filter cover, the fix costs nothing beyond your time. If the drain hose needs replacement, parts typically range from $15 to $40 depending on the model, plus labor if a technician performs the work. A service call to diagnose and repair a more complex leak, such as a dislodged internal hose, generally runs between $100 and $250 including parts and labor, though costs vary by region and service provider.

Start by reducing the amount of detergent you use and confirming you are using HE detergent if your washer requires it. Next, check the drain pump filter cover on the lower front of the machine and make sure it is fully tightened and sealed. Inspect the drain hose along its entire length for cracks or loose connections at the pump and standpipe. If the error persists after addressing these items, the detergent drawer connecting hose may need to be reseated or the base pan may need to be inspected for a remaining water pool.

A power cycle reset may temporarily clear the LC1 code from the display, but it will not resolve the underlying leak. If the physical cause is not corrected, the sensor will detect water again once the machine runs and the code will return. Fix the source of the leak first, allow the base pan to dry completely, and then reset the washer.
