LG Washer Error Code LE1

The LE1 code on an LG washer signals a water level sensor error. The control board cannot receive a valid reading from the sensor that monitors how much water is in the tub. This can be caused by a damaged or clogged air hose, a loose sensor terminal, hose disengagement, excessive lubricant at the hose connection, faulty internal soldering in the sensor, or a defective main PBA. The washer stops operation until the fault is resolved.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while LE1 is active. Because the machine cannot accurately detect water levels, it may overfill or fail to fill correctly, which can lead to leaks or incomplete cycles. Address the underlying cause before resuming normal use.

If the fix only involves reseating a hose or reconnecting a terminal, the repair may cost nothing beyond your time. If the water level sensor needs replacement, parts typically range from $15 to $50 depending on the model. A main PBA replacement is more expensive, generally falling in the $100 to $300 range for the part alone, with additional labor costs if a technician is needed.

Start by checking the water level sensor terminal connections to make sure the connector is fully seated and the contacts are clean. Next, trace the air hose from the tub to the sensor and look for kinks, folds, clogs, or loose fittings. Re-seat the hose at both ends if needed. If the hose and connections are fine, the sensor itself or the main PBA may need to be replaced.

A reset may temporarily clear the LE1 code, but it will return if the underlying fault is not corrected. Simply unplugging the washer for a few minutes and restarting it does not fix a clogged hose, a loose terminal, or a faulty sensor. Perform a proper inspection of the air hose and sensor connections before attempting a reset to see if the repair was successful.
