The OE code on an LG washer stands for overflow error. It means the machine is receiving water continuously because the water level detection system is not functioning correctly. This can be caused by a clogged drain hose, a stuck water supply valve, foreign debris, freezing, or a degraded water level sensor. The washer cannot regulate the amount of water entering the drum until the underlying issue is resolved.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while the OE error is active. Because the error indicates the machine cannot control its own water level, continued use risks overfilling the drum and causing water to spill onto the floor. Stop the cycle, drain any standing water, and diagnose the cause before running another load.

Repair costs depend on what is causing the error. Clearing a clogged drain hose yourself costs nothing beyond time. A reset may temporarily clear the OE code from the display, but it will return if the underlying cause is not corrected.
