The Sd error is not a sign of a mechanical failure and does not pose a safety hazard in normal circumstances. The washer is designed to stop spinning when suds are excessive specifically to prevent leaks and protect surrounding surfaces. Continuing to use non-HE detergent or overdosing detergent repeatedly could lead to water escaping the machine over time, so addressing the root cause is important.

In most cases, fixing the Sd error costs nothing beyond switching to an HE detergent and adjusting how much you use per load. Start by allowing the machine to complete its automatic suds reduction cycle without interruption. Once the cycle finishes, switch to an HE-certified detergent and reduce the amount you use per load. Also check that the drain pump filter is clean and unobstructed.
