The tS code on an LG washer indicates a temperature sensor fault. The washer's control board has detected that the water temperature sensor is malfunctioning or out of order. This could be caused by a failed sensor, damaged wiring, or a problem with the control board itself. The washer halts the cycle until the fault is resolved.

Unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the error if it was caused by a minor glitch, but the tS code will return if an underlying hardware problem exists. A persistent tS code requires actual diagnosis and repair of the sensor, harness, or control board rather than a simple reset.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed. A replacement temperature sensor is generally an inexpensive part, typically in the range of $15 to $50 for the part alone. If the main control board needs replacement, costs rise considerably, often ranging from $150 to $350 or more including parts and labor. Having a technician diagnose the root cause first can prevent unnecessary parts replacement.

Without accurate temperature data, the control board cannot properly regulate water heating, which could result in washing at incorrect temperatures or cause additional stress on other components.
