LG Washer Error Code UE

UE stands for unbalance error. It means the washer detected that the laundry load was too unevenly distributed to complete the spin cycle safely. The machine already attempted to correct the problem twice by refilling with water and re-agitating the load before displaying the code. The cycle stops on the third failed attempt after approximately 10 minutes of total retry time.

The washer halts the spin cycle automatically when the UE error triggers, so it is not operating in an unsafe state while the code is displayed. It is not recommended to repeatedly force restarts without addressing the imbalance, as severe or prolonged drum vibration can accelerate wear on suspension rods, bearings, and the drum assembly over time.

If the cause is load-related, there is no repair cost at all since redistributing the laundry resolves the issue. If a mechanical component such as a suspension rod or drum bearing is at fault, parts and labor costs can range from roughly 100 dollars to 300 dollars or more depending on the specific component, local labor rates, and whether the machine is still under warranty.

Press the operation button to restart after manually redistributing the load. Open the washer door, rearrange the wet clothes so they are spread evenly around the drum, and avoid washing a single large item alone. If the error returns consistently across normal loads, check that the washer is level on all four feet and inspect the suspension components for wear.

Pressing the operation button restarts the cycle, which is the recommended first step. However, if the underlying cause is still present, such as an uneven load or an oversized single item, the washer will repeat the redistribution attempts and trigger UE again. Clearing the error permanently requires correcting the load distribution issue or resolving any mechanical problem causing repeated balance failures.
