LG Washer Error Code Unbalance Error

The Unbalance Error means the washer detected that the laundry inside the drum was distributed unevenly during the spin cycle, causing excessive vibration. The control board halts or interrupts the spin to protect the machine from damage. The Wash, Rinse, and Spin LEDs will all blink at the same time to indicate this condition. Redistributing the load, leveling the machine, and checking the Ball Pressure Sensor connector are the primary diagnostic steps.

You should not force the washer to continue spinning with a severe imbalance. Persistent imbalance causes excessive vibration that can wear out drum bearings, damage suspension components, and potentially move the machine enough to kink water hoses. The washer is designed to stop automatically to prevent this, so allowing it to halt and then correcting the load is the safe approach.

If the error is caused by load distribution or leveling, there is no parts cost at all. If the Ball Pressure Sensor connector is damaged and needs replacement, costs are typically low, often in the range of a few dollars to around twenty dollars for the connector hardware. If the Ball Pressure Sensor itself has failed, parts and labor for a professional repair could range from roughly fifty dollars to one hundred fifty dollars or more depending on your location and service rates.

Start by opening the washer door and manually spreading the laundry out so it is distributed as evenly as possible around the inside of the drum. Then verify that the washer sits level on the floor with all four feet making firm contact. If the error returns after these steps, inspect the Ball Pressure Sensor connector at the back of the machine to ensure it is fully seated and free of corrosion.

Resetting the washer may clear the error code temporarily, but if the underlying cause is not corrected, the error will return as soon as the spin cycle begins again. For load distribution issues, physically rearranging the laundry before restarting is necessary. If a faulty Ball Pressure Sensor is causing a false error, resetting will not provide a lasting fix and the sensor or its connector will need to be addressed.
