The UV code on an LG washer signals an unbalance error. It means the washer detected that the laundry inside the drum was not evenly distributed during the spin cycle, or that the motor hall sensor has a fault causing inaccurate balance readings. The machine stops spinning to prevent damage to internal components.

A power reset, performed by unplugging the washer for about 30 seconds, may clear the UV code temporarily. However, if the underlying cause is an unbalanced load or a faulty hall sensor, the error will return once the spin cycle reaches high speed again. Redistributing the laundry before restarting is the more reliable solution.

If the problem is simply load imbalance, there is no parts cost involved. If the motor hall sensor is faulty, parts and labor costs typically range from $100 to $250 depending on the specific model and local labor rates. Worn suspension components such as shock absorbers or suspension rods can add to that range if multiple parts need replacement.

Start by pressing pause and opening the door, then manually rearrange the laundry so items are spread evenly around the drum. Remove any single bulky items and add a few lighter pieces to help balance the load. If the error returns consistently with properly distributed loads, the motor hall sensor or suspension components may need professional inspection.
