Error code d-26 means the User Interface board is not receiving communications from the Central Control Unit. As a result, cycle selection and display functions are disabled while the error is active. The fault points to a breakdown in the communication path between the two main control boards, which can be caused by wiring, connector, or board-level failures.

With d-26 active, cycles and display functions are disabled, so the dryer will not operate normally. Attempting to force operation while the UI and CCU are not communicating is not recommended, as the control system cannot properly manage the cycle. Address the fault before resuming regular use.

A manual reset or power cycle can clear the d-26 code if the original cause was a temporary communication glitch. However, if the error returns after the reset, a physical fault in the harness, connectors, or one of the control boards is present and must be corrected. Clearing the code repeatedly without fixing the underlying issue will not resolve the problem.

Some causes of d-26 are DIY-friendly, such as reseating a loose harness connector or performing a control reset. However, if the wiring harness is damaged or a control board has failed, the repair requires sourcing the correct parts and comfort working with appliance electronics.
