E-41 on a Samsung microwave is an Easy Sensor or PH Sensor Open Error. It means the control board is not detecting any signal from the humidity or steam sensor used in automatic cooking modes. The error points to either a connection problem or a failed sensor. Automatic sensor cook functions will typically not operate while this error is active.

Basic microwave heating functions may still operate during an E-41 error, but sensor-based automatic cooking modes will not function reliably. The error itself does not indicate a fire or radiation hazard. However, using the appliance in a partially functional state is not ideal, and the underlying wiring or component issue should be addressed before relying on the unit for regular use.

Unplugging the microwave for a minute or two may temporarily clear the error display, but if the underlying sensor connection or component issue is not corrected, the E-41 code will return once the unit is powered back on and a sensor-dependent function is triggered. A reset is a reasonable first step to confirm the fault, but it is not a repair. The sensor connection and hardware must be inspected and corrected for a lasting fix.
