Samsung Microwave Error Code E1

The E1 code on a Samsung microwave means the appliance exceeded the T1 time limit for the gas sensor during a cooking cycle. The gas sensor monitors vapor and gases released by food, and if it does not detect the expected response within the allotted time, the microwave stops and displays E1. This is most often related to food positioning or covering rather than a component failure.

Pressing the Cancel key acts as a soft reset and will clear the E1 error from the display. However, if the underlying cause is not addressed, the error will return when the next sensor-based cooking cycle is run. For a full power reset, unplug the microwave for 60 seconds before reconnecting.

If the fix is simply repositioning food or adjusting the cover, there is no cost involved. If the gas sensor requires replacement, parts and labor typically range from $75 to $200 depending on the specific model and service rates in your area.
