It can indicate a fan problem, poor ventilation, or a faulty sensor.

You should not continue using the microwave while E3 is active, as it indicates the unit is not cooling properly after operation. Running the microwave repeatedly in this condition could lead to overheating and potential damage to internal components. Allow the unit to cool fully and address the root cause before resuming normal use.

Repair costs vary depending on the failed component. If the issue is simply inadequate clearance or a blocked vent, there is no parts cost.
