The E5 code on a Samsung microwave indicates a short circuit detected in the gas sensor circuit. The control board has received an abnormal low-resistance signal from the sensor or its wiring and has halted operation as a safety precaution. The issue may be a failed sensor, damaged wiring, or a temporary electronic glitch.

You should not attempt to use the microwave while the E5 code is active. The unit has stopped normal operation intentionally in response to a detected sensor fault. Continued use before resolving the underlying cause is not advisable, and the issue should be diagnosed before resuming cooking.
