The Ed code means the dishwasher has detected a communication failure between the main control board and the display board lasting more than 20 seconds. The display board is either not receiving the signal or the main board is not sending it. This is an internal electronics fault that prevents normal operation. Diagnosis starts with inspecting the display board and the wiring connecting the two boards.

The dishwasher will typically not complete a wash cycle while the Ed error is active, so normal use is not possible. There is no immediate safety hazard from the error itself, as it is an electronics communication fault rather than a water or heating issue. The appliance should remain unplugged or powered off until the repair is completed.

A power reset, such as unplugging the dishwasher for a few minutes and restoring power, may temporarily clear the Ed code if the communication fault was caused by a transient glitch. However, if the underlying cause is a hardware issue such as a faulty connector, damaged wiring, or a failed board, the error will return.
