The 7 RED blink code on a Trane furnace signals a System Lockout Retry condition. This means the furnace attempted to complete an ignition cycle multiple times without success and has shut down as a safety measure. The retry feature allows the control board to attempt restarting automatically, but a persistent lockout means a component in the ignition or fuel delivery system needs attention.

The lockout itself is a safety feature, not a hazard. The control board stops ignition attempts to prevent unburned gas from accumulating. You should not attempt to repeatedly override the lockout without diagnosing the root cause. If you smell gas at any point, leave the building and contact your gas utility before continuing any inspection.
