FP E2 indicates a Coin 2 circuit error on a Whirlpool coin-operated dryer. The control board is not receiving a valid signal from the Coin 2 sensor, which detects coin insertion. The cause can be a blocked coin drop path, a loose connection at the AA5 connector on the control board, a wiring fault, or a failed sensor.

A reset may temporarily clear the fault display, but if the underlying cause is not corrected, the FP E2 code will return. The coin drop sensor obstruction or wiring issue must be resolved before the error will stay cleared. Resetting alone is not a fix.

If the fix is simply clearing a blockage or reseating the AA5 connector, there may be no parts cost involved. A replacement Coin 2 sensor typically runs in the range of $15 to $50 depending on the model. If the control board requires replacement, costs can range from $100 to $300 or more for parts, plus any applicable labor.

Start by checking the coin drop mechanism for any debris, lint, or foreign objects blocking the Coin 2 sensor. Next, locate the AA5 connector on the control board and ensure it is fully seated with no corroded or bent pins. If those checks pass, inspect the wiring harness for damage and test the sensor itself. Replace any component that fails inspection.

The FP E2 fault is specific to the coin payment circuit and does not directly indicate a fire or electrical hazard with the dryer's heating system.
