F4E1 means the control board has detected a failure in the cavity temperature sensor circuit. The sensor is responsible for reporting internal hood cavity temperature, and the board throws this code when the sensor signal is missing, shorted, or outside the expected resistance range. The fault could be the sensor itself, the wiring harness connecting it, or in less common cases, the control board.

Basic ventilation functions like the fan may still operate, but the hood cannot regulate cavity temperature accurately without a functioning sensor. Running the appliance in this state risks overheating if heating elements are involved. It is best to resolve F4E1 before using any heat-related functions on the hood.

Press CANCEL, CANCEL, then START in sequence to enter diagnostics mode. Once in diagnostics, press the CONVECT button to display the live cavity temperature sensor reading. At room temperature the value should fall between 50°F and 90°F. A reading outside this range, a value of 0, or an error display in place of a temperature confirms the sensor or its circuit is the source of the F4E1 code.

Start by entering diagnostics mode using the CANCEL-CANCEL-START sequence, then press CONVECT to display the live cavity temperature sensor reading. If the reading is within 50°F to 90°F at room temperature, inspect the wiring harness and connector pins for damage or corrosion. If the reading is absent or out of range, the cavity temperature sensor itself likely needs to be replaced. After replacing the sensor or reseating connectors, clear the code and retest.
