Using the hood with an active F8E5 code is not recommended. The thermistor monitors exhaust air temperature, and without a reliable reading, the hood cannot properly manage heat levels during operation. Running the appliance in this state could allow temperatures to go unmonitored. Address the fault before resuming regular use.

Press CANCEL-CANCEL-START to enter diagnostics mode, then press WARM HOLD to display the HF NTC thermistor reading on the control panel. With the hood at room temperature, the value should fall between approximately 50°F and 90°F. A reading outside this range, or no reading at all, confirms the thermistor circuit has a problem that needs further investigation starting at the thermistor and its wiring.

Start by entering diagnostics mode using the CANCEL-CANCEL-START button sequence, then press WARM HOLD to read the live HF NTC thermistor value. If the reading is within room temperature range (50°F to 90°F), inspect the wiring harness and connector terminals for damage or corrosion. If the reading is absent or wildly out of range, replace the HF NTC thermistor. If both the thermistor and wiring check out, the control board is the next component to test or replace.
