F8E1 means the appliance detected a no-fill or long-fill condition during the water intake cycle. The control board monitors the water level sensor and expects to see the water level rising after the inlet valves open. If the level does not change within the allowed time, or if the sensor does not register a change even though water is present, the board stops the cycle and displays F8E1.

You should not attempt to run a cycle while F8E1 is active. The appliance has halted operation because it cannot confirm the tub is filling correctly, and running it in this state could result in a wash cycle completing without water or could stress other components. Address the underlying cause before resuming use.

If the fix is as simple as cleaning the inlet hose screens or adjusting the drain hose, there may be little to no cost beyond your time. Replacing a water inlet valve typically runs in the range of $30 to $90 for the part, plus labor if a technician is hired. A water level pressure sensor is generally in the $20 to $60 range for the part. Total repair costs including professional labor can range from $100 to $250 depending on which component has failed and your local service rates.

Start by checking that both water supply valves are fully open and that the supply hoses are not kinked. Next, inspect the small mesh screens inside the hose connections at the back of the machine for clogs and clean them if needed. Also confirm the drain hose is not inserted more than 4.5 inches into the standpipe, as a deeper insertion causes siphoning that prevents the tub from filling. If those steps do not resolve the error, the inlet valve or water level pressure sensor may need to be tested or replaced.

A reset may temporarily clear the displayed code, but if the underlying problem is not corrected the error will return as soon as the machine attempts to fill again. Power the unit off for a minute and then back on to reset it, then correct the supply, screen, or drain hose issue before running a cycle. If the fault returns immediately, further component testing is needed.
