E:05 means the washer's control board is detecting an open circuit in the NTC thermistor, which is the water temperature sensor. The board expects to read a specific resistance value from this sensor at all times during a cycle. When the circuit is open and resistance reads as infinite, the board logs the fault and stops the washer. The cause is typically a failed sensor or a broken wire in the harness connecting it to the board.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer with E:05 active. Without a functioning temperature sensor, the control board cannot monitor or regulate water temperature during the cycle. This could result in the washer using water at an unintended temperature, which may damage certain fabrics or affect wash performance. The machine will typically stop the cycle on its own when this code appears.

If the repair only requires reseating a loose connector, the cost is minimal, typically just your time.
