Er:10 indicates that the flow meter is sending incorrect or out-of-range values to the control board. This code applies only to Whirlpool WFMC64 and WFXD84 models. The fault points to either the flow meter sensor itself or the wire harness connecting it to the control board. The washer will not operate normally until the issue is diagnosed and corrected.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer with an active Er:10 code. Since the flow meter monitors water entering the drum, a faulty reading could cause the machine to underfill or overfill, potentially leading to poor wash results or water spillage. Addressing the fault before resuming use is the safer approach.

If the repair only requires inspecting and reseating the wire harness, costs may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. If the flow meter needs replacement, parts plus labor can range from $150 to $350 depending on parts availability and local labor rates. Diagnosing the harness before purchasing a new flow meter can help avoid unnecessary parts costs.

Start by running the built-in test P11 to evaluate flow meter performance directly. While the test is running, also inspect the wire harness for damaged insulation, loose connectors, or corroded pins. If the harness is intact and the flow meter produces no signal or an erratic signal during P11, the flow meter should be replaced. Addressing the harness first is advisable since it requires no parts purchase.

A power reset may temporarily clear the display, but Er:10 will return if the underlying hardware problem is not repaired. The flow meter or wire harness issue that triggered the code must be resolved for the fault to stay cleared. Using test P11 after any reset will help confirm whether the fault is still active.
