Er:15 means the control board is receiving a voltage from the analog pressure sensor that falls outside the normal operating range. This code applies specifically to Whirlpool WFMC64 and WFXD84 models. The pressure sensor monitors water level inside the drum, and a bad voltage signal prevents the machine from operating safely. The fault points to either the sensor itself or the wire harness connecting it to the control board.

A power reset may temporarily clear the display, but the code will return as soon as the washer attempts to read the water level again if the underlying problem has not been fixed. The sensor or harness fault that triggered Er:15 must be resolved for the error to stay cleared. Repeatedly resetting without repairing the root cause will not restore normal operation.

If only the wire harness needs repair or a connector needs reseating, costs may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150. Replacing the pressure sensor itself generally brings the total parts-and-labor cost to somewhere between $150 and $300 depending on parts availability and local labor rates. If the main control board is ultimately at fault, repair costs can be higher, often ranging from $250 to $450 or more.

Start by running the built-in diagnostic test P8, which evaluates the pressure sensor circuit on these models. Inspect the wire harness from the sensor to the control board for loose connectors, corrosion, or physical damage and repair or reseat any connections as needed. If the harness is intact but the sensor voltage remains out of range during testing, replacing the pressure sensor is the recommended repair. A qualified technician can complete this diagnosis in a single visit.

It is not advisable to continue using the washer when Er:15 is active. The pressure sensor is responsible for preventing the machine from overfilling with water, and operating without a reliable water level reading creates a risk of flooding. The washer will typically halt its cycle when this code is present, and that safeguard should not be bypassed.
