The washer will not complete a cycle with the IE code active, so continued operation is not really possible until the issue is resolved. There is no immediate safety hazard from the error itself, as the machine simply stops when it cannot fill. However, running repeated cycle attempts without resolving the root cause puts unnecessary stress on the control system and inlet valve.

A reset may clear the displayed code temporarily, but the error will return as soon as the washer attempts to fill again if the underlying cause has not been corrected. Resetting is useful for confirming whether the code was a one-time glitch, but it is not a fix. Resolve the supply or component issue first, and the code will clear on its own once the washer completes a successful fill.

Next, disconnect the hoses from the back of the washer and inspect the small mesh filter screens at the connection point, cleaning out any debris or mineral buildup. If all of those check out normal and the washer still will not fill, the water inlet valve may need to be tested and replaced.
