The OE code means the washer has detected a water supply circuit fault where the water level has reached or exceeded the overflow level. The machine automatically begins draining to bring the water level back to a safe point. The most common causes are a stuck water inlet valve or a faulty water inlet sensor. If the code keeps returning, both of those components should be inspected.

It is not recommended to continue running the washer while the OE code is active. The code indicates the machine has detected an overflow-level water condition, and continued use without diagnosing the root cause could result in water leaking onto the floor or internal component damage. The washer will attempt to drain automatically as a safety measure, but the underlying fault should be corrected before resuming normal use.

Repair costs depend on which component is at fault. A replacement water inlet valve typically costs between $20 and $80 for the part, while a water inlet sensor or pressure switch generally runs between $15 and $50. If you hire a technician, labor charges will add to those figures, bringing total repair costs to a range of roughly $100 to $250 in most cases. Clearing a kinked or clogged pressure hose costs nothing beyond your time.

Start by checking all water inlet valves to make sure none are stuck in the open position. If the valves appear to be functioning normally, the next step is to test the water inlet sensor, which monitors tub water level and communicates with the control board. Also inspect the pressure hose connected to the water level sensor for any kinks, clogs, or disconnections. Replacing whichever component is faulty will typically resolve the OE code.

A reset may temporarily clear the OE code from the display, but it will return if the underlying cause has not been fixed. If a water inlet valve is stuck open or the water level sensor is sending bad readings, the machine will detect the overflow condition again during the next fill cycle and display OE again. A reset is useful for confirming whether the fault is intermittent, but it is not a repair.
