Wolf Range Error Code 01

Error code 01 means the oven control commanded the Motor Door Lock assembly to move but did not detect a response from the door lock or unlock position switches within 60 seconds. The control expects a switch signal confirming the latch reached the locked or unlocked position. When that signal does not arrive in time, the control stops the operation and displays fault 01. This fault is most commonly triggered during a self-clean cycle.

Standard oven baking and broiling functions may still operate while fault 01 is present, but you should not attempt to run a self-clean cycle. The self-clean cycle requires the door to lock securely before reaching high temperatures, and a compromised lock mechanism creates a safety risk. Resolve the fault before using the self-clean feature.

Cycling power to the range at the breaker may temporarily clear the fault display, but the code will return as soon as the door lock motor is commanded to actuate again, typically at the start of the next self-clean cycle. A power reset does not address the underlying mechanical or electrical fault. Permanent resolution requires diagnosing and repairing the MDL assembly, wiring harness, or related components.

A knowledgeable DIYer can inspect the wiring harness for visible damage and check for mechanical obstructions in the latch mechanism without specialized tools. However, properly diagnosing a failed door lock switch requires ohm testing the MDL assembly with a multimeter, and the Wolf diagnostic mode door lock test procedure is the correct starting point. Replacing the MDL assembly is a straightforward repair for someone comfortable working with appliance wiring, but if the control board is suspected, professional diagnosis is recommended.
