Error code 3222 means the left oven RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) circuit is reading below 3049 ohms, which is outside the acceptable range. This indicates the RTD probe is either broken internally, shorted, or wired incorrectly. The control board uses this sensor to monitor and regulate oven temperature, so the left oven cannot operate safely while this fault is active.

The left oven should not be used while error code 3222 is active. Because the temperature sensor is reporting a fault, the oven control cannot accurately monitor or regulate left oven temperature, which creates a risk of overheating or unpredictable operation. Surface burners on the range may still function normally, but the left oven should remain off until the fault is resolved.

Start by powering down the range and unplugging the RTD connector from the control board. Use a multimeter set to resistance and measure directly across the RTD probe terminals. A reading near zero or clearly below the expected range confirms a shorted or failed probe. If the probe reads correctly in isolation, inspect the wiring harness for shorts, damage, or improper connections before suspecting the control board.

Resetting the range by cutting power at the breaker may temporarily clear the display, but the code will return as soon as the control board checks the RTD circuit again and finds the resistance still below 3049 ohms. A reset does not fix the underlying problem. The RTD probe, wiring, and connectors must be inspected and repaired before the error will clear permanently.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. An RTD probe replacement typically costs between $40 and $120 for the part, plus labor if a technician performs the repair. If the control board requires replacement, costs can range from $200 to $500 or more for the part alone.
