LG Washer Leaking?
A leaking LG washer can cause serious water damage if not addressed quickly. The good news is that most leaks have a simple cause you can identify and fix yourself.
Turn off the water supply valves behind the washer before inspecting hoses. Mop up standing water immediately to prevent floor damage and mold growth.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
On LG front-load washers, the rubber boot seal (door gasket) is the most common leak point. Inspect it for tears, cracks, or foreign objects lodged in the folds. Also check for mold or buildup that might prevent the door from sealing properly.
Overusing HE detergent or using non-HE detergent causes excessive suds that leak out through the dispenser housing. LG front-loaders need only 2 tablespoons of HE detergent. Pull out the dispenser tray and clean the housing with warm water.
Examine both hot and cold water hoses where they connect to the back of the washer. Tighten any loose connections by hand. Check the rubber washers inside the hose connections — cracked washers are a common leak source. Replace rubber hoses with braided stainless steel ones.
The drain hose should be securely attached to the back of the washer and properly inserted into the standpipe or sink. If the hose has come loose or the standpipe is too short, water will overflow during the drain cycle.
Open the small panel at the bottom front of the washer. If the drain filter cap is loose or the o-ring is damaged, water can seep out during cycles. Remove the filter, check the o-ring, and reinstall it snugly.

When to call a professional
If the leak is coming from underneath the washer (not from the door, hoses, or dispenser), the tub seal or internal hose connecting the tub to the pump may have failed. This requires disassembling the machine and is best left to a professional.
