LG Washer Won't Spin?
An LG washer that won't spin usually shows a UE (unbalanced) or LE (motor) error. Before you call for service, there are several things you can check yourself.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
An unbalanced load is the most common reason an LG washer won't spin. Open the door and redistribute the clothes evenly. Avoid washing a single heavy item (like a comforter) alone — add towels to balance the drum.
Place a bubble level on top of the washer. LG front-loaders are especially sensitive to being out of level. Adjust the leveling feet and make sure all four are firmly on the floor with no rocking.
LG washers have a built-in calibration mode. With an empty drum, press Power, then hold Spin Speed and Soil Level together for 3 seconds. The drum will rotate slowly to recalibrate the motor sensor.
If the door lock assembly has failed, the washer won’t engage the spin cycle. Listen for the click when you close the door. If you don’t hear it, or if the door lock light doesn’t come on, the latch mechanism or switch may need replacement.
A clogged drain pump can prevent the washer from moving to the spin cycle. Open the small access panel at the bottom front of the washer, place a towel down, and slowly unscrew the drain filter. Remove any coins, hair ties, or debris.

When to call a professional
If you see an LE error code and the drum doesn’t move at all, the stator or rotor assembly may have failed. This is common on direct-drive LG washers and requires disassembling the rear of the machine. If the motor shaft has play, the hall sensor may also need replacement.
