What F1-7 means on a Amana oven
The F1-7 error code on an Amana oven indicates that the control board has lost communication with the keyboard assembly, also referred to as the touchpad or keypad panel. The keyboard connects to the electronic oven control (EOC) through a ribbon cable or wire harness, and when that connection is interrupted or fails entirely, the control board generates this fault code. The oven cannot accept user input without a functioning keyboard connection, so normal operation is suspended until the issue is resolved.
The most likely cause is a loose or disconnected wire connector between the keyboard and the control board. Vibration during normal oven use, heat cycling over time, or an incomplete reassembly after a prior repair can all allow these connectors to work loose. In some cases, the ribbon cable or wire harness itself may be damaged, kinked, or have a broken conductor that prevents a reliable signal from passing between the two components.
If the wiring connection is confirmed to be secure and intact but the fault persists, the control board itself is the next suspect. A failed control board may no longer correctly detect or communicate with the keyboard even when the physical connection is sound. Replacing the control board is the corrective action when wiring checks out and the error code continues to appear.

Common causes of F1-7
- 01
Loose keyboard wire connector
Wiring / connectionThe wire harness connecting the keyboard to the control board may have worked loose over time. Inspect the connector at both ends and press it firmly into place to ensure a solid connection.
- 02
Damaged wire harness or ribbon cable
Part replacementThe cable running between the keyboard and control board may be kinked, pinched, or have a broken internal conductor. Visually inspect the full length of the harness for any visible damage.
- 03
Failed keyboard assembly
Part replacementThe touchpad or keypad itself may have failed internally, preventing it from communicating with the control board even when the wiring connection is intact. A failed keyboard requires replacement of the touchpad panel.
- 04
Failed electronic oven control board
Part replacementIf the wiring and keyboard both check out as functional, the control board may have failed and can no longer detect the keyboard connection. Replacing the control board resolves this when other components are confirmed good.
