F06 on an Ariston washer is a selector error indicating the control system cannot find or read a valid program code from the cycle selector. The fault points to a breakdown in communication between the program selector switch and the main control board, typically through the CNC Connector Card. It can be caused by poor terminal connections, a failed selector switch, or damaged wiring.

When F06 is active, the washer typically cannot start or complete a cycle because no valid program code is being detected. Attempting to run the machine in this state is not recommended, as the control system cannot confirm which cycle parameters to apply. Addressing the fault before resuming use is the correct approach.

A power reset by unplugging the washer for a few minutes may temporarily clear the error display, but F06 will return if the underlying cause has not been fixed. The code is generated because the control board cannot detect a valid selector signal, and that hardware or connection issue must be resolved for the error to stay clear. A reset alone is not a repair.

Start by inspecting the terminals on the CNC Connector Card, which is the connector linking the selector switch to the control board. Clean or reseat any corroded or loose terminals and check that the harness plug is firmly connected. If the connection is sound, test the selector switch itself for continuity across its positions, and trace the wiring harness for damage. If all wiring and the selector check out, the control board may need replacement.
