Error code 32 on a Bosch washer indicates that the spin cycle was interrupted because the machine's control system detected an out-of-balance load condition. During the spin phase, the washer continuously monitors drum motion and load distribution. When the load shifts unevenly, the resulting vibration or drum movement exceeds acceptable thresholds, and the control board triggers this fault to prevent mechanical stress, excessive vibration, and potential damage to internal components such as the drum bearings, suspension springs, and shock absorbers.

The balance detection system relies on the washer's motor control circuitry and, in many models, an electronic load sensor or motor speed feedback to identify irregular drum rotation patterns. When the load is concentrated on one side of the drum, the drum oscillates erratically rather than spinning smoothly. The control board registers this irregular pattern and halts the spin cycle rather than allowing the machine to continue at high RPM under unsafe load conditions.

The most common triggers for this code are user-related loading issues such as washing a single heavy item, an overloaded drum, or a load where laundry has clumped together during the wash cycle. However, repeated or persistent occurrences of this code can also point to worn suspension components, including shock absorbers or suspension rods that are no longer dampening drum movement effectively. In those cases, even a properly loaded drum may trigger the fault because the mechanical damping system is no longer functioning within specification.
