LC on an Electrolux air conditioner means the unit experienced a compressor start-up failure. The control board attempted to start the compressor but detected that it did not begin operating successfully. This is a protective fault designed to prevent damage to the compressor motor and associated components.

The unit will not operate normally while the LC fault is active, as the compressor has shut down to protect itself. Continuing to attempt rapid restarts without resolving the underlying cause can stress and eventually damage the compressor motor. Address the fault before resuming regular use.

Repair cost depends entirely on the root cause. A wiring correction or restart timing fix costs nothing beyond a service call fee, which typically ranges from $50 to $150. A replacement start capacitor usually adds $20 to $75 in parts. If the compressor itself has failed, replacement can range from $400 to $1,200 or more depending on unit size and part availability, and in some cases replacing the entire unit may be more economical.

In many cases, the first step is something you can do without tools: turn the unit completely off and wait at least 3 minutes before restarting.
