What CLn means on a Electrolux range
The CLn code on an Electrolux range is an informational status indicator, not a fault or error code. It displays on the control panel to notify the user and any service technician that the self-clean cycle is currently active and running. During a self-clean cycle, the oven cavity heats to extreme temperatures, typically in the range of 800 to 900 degrees Fahrenheit, to incinerate food residue, grease, and debris into ash that can be wiped away after the cycle completes.
When CLn is displayed, the oven door lock engages automatically as a safety measure, preventing the door from being opened while the cavity is at high temperature. The control board monitors cycle progress and maintains the target cleaning temperature for a set duration, which can range from two to five hours depending on the cycle length selected. All heating elements involved in the self-clean process, including the bake and broil elements, are driven at high output during this period.
The CLn display will remain visible on the control panel throughout the entire self-clean cycle. Once the cycle completes and the oven cavity cools to a safe temperature, the door lock will disengage automatically and the CLn indicator will clear from the display. No service intervention is needed when this code appears during a cycle that was intentionally initiated by the user.

Common causes of CLn
- 01
Self-clean cycle intentionally started by user
Wiring / connectionThe most common reason CLn appears is that the self-clean function was selected and started from the control panel. This is normal operation and requires no action.
- 02
Self-clean cycle started accidentally
Wiring / connectionA user may have inadvertently pressed the self-clean button or selected the option while navigating control panel menus. Check whether a clean cycle was intended before attempting to cancel it.
- 03
Control board retaining cycle state after a power interruption
Wiring / connectionIf power was briefly interrupted during a self-clean cycle, the control board may resume the cycle and continue displaying CLn once power is restored. This is normal behavior for the control system.
- 04
Stuck or malfunctioning control panel key
Part replacementA keypad button that is physically stuck or has a shorted membrane contact could trigger the self-clean cycle without user input. If CLn appears without the cycle being started, inspect the control panel for any keys that feel depressed or unresponsive.
