The most common trigger is interrupting the self-clean cycle before it completes, which can leave the oven in an indeterminate thermal or control state that confuses the sensor circuit on the next attempt.

Beyond a mid-cycle interruption, the fault can point to hardware failures in several components. The door lock mechanism must engage fully before and during self-clean, and any failure here can disrupt the cycle logic and produce this error. Relay 1 and Relay 3 on the control board govern element switching during the clean cycle, so a failed or sticky relay contact can cause erratic temperature behavior.
