This can occur at the moment the freezer powers on or at any point during normal operation. The fault points to a wiring, connector, or control board issue.

Unplugging the freezer for a few minutes and restoring power can clear the CE code temporarily if the fault was caused by a transient signal glitch. However, if there is an underlying wiring or board problem, the code will return. A reset alone is not a repair and should be followed by a thorough inspection of the communication circuit.

Repair costs depend on the root cause. If only a harness connection needs to be reseated or cleaned, there may be no parts cost involved.
