Frigidaire Oven Error Code F4

F4 means the oven control board detected an open circuit in the oven temperature sensor for 16 consecutive temperature readings. This tells the board that it has completely lost the ability to read the oven cavity temperature. The oven will not allow baking or self-cleaning functions until the sensor circuit is restored.

You should not attempt to bake or run a self-clean cycle while F4 is active. Without a functioning temperature sensor, the control board cannot regulate heat properly, which creates a risk of overheating. The oven is designed to block those functions when F4 is present for this reason.

Disconnect power to the oven and locate the temperature sensor probe, which mounts through the back wall of the oven cavity. Disconnect the sensor from its wiring harness and use a multimeter set to ohms to measure across the two sensor terminals. At room temperature, a working sensor should read approximately 1080 to 1100 ohms. A reading of infinite resistance or OL confirms the sensor has an open circuit and needs to be replaced.

Pressing the CANCEL key will silence the F4 alarm temporarily, and the error will not reappear right away. However, the fault will return as soon as you attempt a baking or self-cleaning cycle, because those functions require a working temperature sensor. Cancel clears the alarm but does not fix the underlying wiring or sensor problem.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, there may be no parts cost at all. A replacement oven temperature sensor typically costs in the range of $20 to $60 for parts. If the control board is at fault, board replacement parts can range from $100 to $250 or more, plus any applicable labor charges if you use a professional technician.
