F9 indicates a latch motor problem with the oven door locking system. The control board detected that the motorized door latch failed to engage or disengage properly during operation. This fault can be caused by a jammed or failed latch motor, a faulty latch switch, a stuck relay on the control board, or a wiring problem in the latch circuit.

Normal baking and broiling functions may still operate, but you should not attempt to run a self-clean cycle while F9 is active. The latch motor fault means the door lock may not engage properly, which is a safety concern at the extreme temperatures reached during self-clean. Resolve the fault before using the self-clean feature.

Start by visually inspecting the latch mechanism for any physical obstruction or debris preventing movement. Check all wiring connectors between the control board and the latch motor for corrosion or loose terminals. If the latch motor and switch test within acceptable parameters but the fault persists after a power reset, the control board relay may be the culprit. A multimeter can be used to check for correct voltage output from the board to the motor circuit during a latch command.

A reset will sometimes clear F9 if the cause is a temporary software glitch rather than a failed component. Start by pressing the CLEAR key, and if the error returns, turn off power to the oven at the breaker for 30 seconds before restoring it. If F9 comes back after the reset, a physical component such as the latch motor, switch, or wiring will need to be inspected and likely replaced.

Repair costs depend on which component has failed.
