RR stands for Remove Racks and appears when you attempt to start a self-cleaning cycle with oven racks or rack holders still inside the oven cavity. It is a protective interlock that prevents the self-clean cycle from starting until the oven interior is cleared. This is not a malfunction or electrical fault. Removing all racks and rack holders will clear the code and allow the cycle to begin.

The oven will not allow the self-clean cycle to start while the RR condition is active, so there is no way to bypass it and begin cleaning with racks still inside. This protection exists because self-clean temperatures can permanently warp standard racks and damage their finish. Always remove racks before running self-clean to protect both the racks and the rack guide holders on the oven walls.

In almost all cases, resolving the RR code costs nothing because it requires no replacement parts and no service call. The fix is simply removing the racks and rack holders from the oven before starting self-clean. If a technician visit is requested for this issue, expect a standard diagnostic or trip fee, which typically ranges from 75 to 150 dollars depending on your location and service provider.

Open the oven door and remove all racks and any removable rack holder accessories from inside the oven cavity. Once the interior is clear, close the door and restart the self-clean cycle using the control panel. The RR message should disappear and the self-clean sequence will initiate. Resetting the oven by cycling power will not clear the RR code if racks or rack holders are still inside the cavity. The code will reappear as soon as the self-clean cycle is attempted again. The only way to clear RR is to physically remove all racks and rack holders from the oven interior before restarting the self-clean cycle.
